PROJECT: Shoji Lights
Comments: These lights draw on the look of Japanese shoji, or rice-paper screens. They were designed in collaboration with Bill Larson Architects for installation in a new residence. Shown above is one of two entryway lights.
The interior of the home is lit with twelve sconces like the one shown at right, which are situated at strategic spots throughout the house.
The lamps are changed by lifting off the top panel, which also is relieved for ventilation.
For the bath areas, this longer unit gives some extra light for makeup and grooming.
The paper in these lamps is a tough plastic composite, which has a look similar to traditional rice paper. The wood is sealed with urethane varnish.
Wood: Genuine Mahogany
