Comment: Designed to hold writing paper and envlopes, this box has compartments built in to the drawers. It sits on the client's work desk.

The carved handles are part of the drawer sides and protrude through the fronts.

Spalted wood comes from logs that have been left outdoors, and the dark streaks are left by bacteria that feed on the wood--before they've had a chance to decompose it. Once the wood is dry enough to use, it is no longer affected by the bacteria.
