PROJECT: Walnut Bathroom Suite
Comments: To bring an outdated master bathroom into the twenty-first century, it was necessary to throw out the old and bring in the new.
For the cabinets, the clients chose a rich dark Walnut to contrast the pale tones of the newly remodelled rooms. Above is a custom vanity and makeup station with plenty of mirror space and great light, making getting ready for the day truly a pleasure.
A second vanity provides an additional space (at right). It holds three drawers, a lower sink cabinet and pull-out tray above. The Walnut panel on the wall is actually a cabinet too, hidden behind the wall!
Across the room is a floor-to-ceiling cabinet (shown at left) that holds all the towels, linens and supplies anyone would ever need. We also trimmed the door frames and baseboards in the same Black Walnut lumber.
One benefit of the remodelling was reclaiming a rarely used space adjacent to the bathroom. We updated the walk-in closet to make more efficient use of storage. The result? The old maxim comes true: A place for every item and every item in its place!
In the center of the L-shaped room, a tall dresser cabinet wraps around the corner to give twenty spacious drawers and a tall storage space behind handsome Walnut panels.
Elsewhere in the room there is plenty of storage space for hanging clothes, with five bays of closet space at different heights. An entire wall is devoted to shoe storage, organized and easy to access. The room also includes a full-length mirror.
The clients are very happy with their upgraded bathroom space.
