PROJECT: Entry Door
COMMENTS: My client was imagining the stout rough-hewn door of a medieval castle, and commisioned me to create such a door.
I began with a solid-core door, then covered both sides with milled walnut boards of varying widths. They were screwed to the face of the core, and the screw holes were filled with plugs of the same wood.
The job included building a frame and door sill, and installing the frame, door and hardware in the rough stone opening.
The finish is several coats of light oil.
WOOD: American Black Walnut.
