PROJECT: Ranch Kitchen
A former livestock barn has been converted into a nifty house, and this kitchen, tucked into a corner of the main room, holds all the comforts of the city in a rural setting. The Alder wood cabinets bring a touch of nature indoors, in a sleek, contemporary design that makes the most use of limited space.
All the storage one would ever need is inside with 65 cubic feet of upper cabinets lining the wall. Sink and dishwasher are tucked underneath, with two lighted shelves above the sink work area.
The spacious half-island countertop creates a place to dine on one side, and a place to cook on the other. The chef's side of the island, at left, holds a microwave oven, convection oven and cooktop with tuck-away vent, as well as silverware drawer, deep pan drawer, and waste bin. It's all the gear any country cook would need.
Wood: Alder veneer, with Bubinga door banding and countertop edging.
