PROJECT: Conference Room
Comments: "In the middle of this room, I want to feel as if I am sitting inside a hollowed-out tree, cozy and protected," my client said.
Upon receiving that request, I decided to cover every surface with wood. The ceiling is meant to look like a carving-out of the annual rings inside a tree (though, admittedly, they don't grow in squares!). Access panels carefully hidden at several points across the ceiling provide access to mechanical systems for maintenance.
A light canopy of the same wood surrounds the room and provides uniform lighting, which can be dimmed to different levels.
